Project Scope

Managing Director, Mario Padrutt, worked for 10 years in Switzerland at Sulzer Innotec AG and Bosshard AG Stahl-und Maschinenbau before heading to New Zealand to start his own company in 2008. His ingenuity, eye for precision, ability to problem solve and thrive for a clean modern work environment is a credit to the company’s success today.

SMS employs highly-skilled engineers with many years experience in engineering, CNC machining, CAD drawing, and CAD/CAM programming.

SMS services a wide range of industries, which contract to national and international markets:

Construction

  • The gate is built with marine grade aluminium.
  • A skeleton style chassis for strength and rigidity.
  • All sections are laser cut for accuracy.
  • Fabrication and welding are to the highest standard.
  • There are ten hinges, complete with Nylon bushes for hassle free running.
  • The hinge plate is supplied and assembled to the barrel for easy installation.
  • The cushioning ram mount plates are slotted and welded into the chassis for zero failure.
  • The barrel is constructed in four metre sections and joined to produce an eight metre gate.
  • Drawings can be supplied for construction of the concrete pit, if required.

Advantages

  • A smooth and fast dropping gate with a cushion stop – no bounce back.
  • A clean deck with two ram mount pivots for under deck or above ground ram activation
  • The continuous Fibre Re-enforced Plastic ( FRP) grating is for extra grip and smoothness across the gate for transition between the gate and ramp.
  • FRP grating on the barrel is to allow for unobstructed air exhaust
  • There is easy removal of the FRP grating for cleaning under the platform or any maintenance that is required
  • The barrel can be inserted into an existing pit if required or adapted to suit a frame style
  • The barrel and platform can be freighted anywhere in New Zealand and can be deconstructed and assembled on site by club members
  • The front of the barrel is a continuous rolled sheet to allow for sponsors advertising

Platform Frame

  • Built from heavy wall steel sections
  • The frame is built in sections to allow for easy transportation, metal protection process and easy onsite assembly
  • The platform frame is pre drilled, complete with multiple bolt down fixings and adjustable levelling points
  • Bracing installed where required
  • Easy to install, the FRP grating is complete with adjustable fastening points
  • A fastening kit can be supplied
